Rodrygo Goes was the talk of the pre-season, but now he is beginning to question his future at Real Madrid. Ahead of the Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund, the Madrid press made a shock revelation about the Brazilian international.
It’s been a problematic start to the season for Real Madrid. While the team is struggling on the sporting front with mixed results, Carlo Ancelotti is still having to deal with the discontent of certain players. Against Celta Vigo last Saturday, Jude Bellingham was furious with Vunicius Jr, in particular for playing too much on his own. Since the arrival of Kylian Mbappe, certain roles have been reversed.
Jude Bellingham, who scored 10 goals last season in October, has yet to hit the back of the net this season. But the England international is not the only one affected by the arrival of Kylian Mbappe. Since the signing of the 2018 world champion, Rodrygo Goes has lost everything at Real Madrid. The former Santos nugget, despite being the centrepiece of Madrid’s attack in previous seasons, has seen his playing time seriously reduced.

In Saturday’s match against Celta Vigo, for example, the Brazilian had to make do with a substitute’s role, a fate that could even be repeated this evening against Borussia Dortmund at the Bernabeu on Matchday 3 of the Champions League. Yet Rodrygo is coming off a quality international break in which he shone brightly for the Seleção.
Carlo Ancelotti’s choices a big problem for Rodrygo
Rodrygo has saved Real Madrid’s fortunes on numerous occasions in previous seasons, notably with decisive goals in the Champions League, but he is no longer one of Carlo Ancelotti’s first choices. Despite his talent and, above all, his ability to make the difference in one-on-one situations in crucial matches, the Brazilian now seems to have been overtaken by the fierce competition from Kylian Mbappe and his compatriot Vinicius Jr, who is even tipped to be the favourite to lift the Ballon d’Or on 28 October in Paris.
Carlo Ancelotti had no choice but to make the totally expected decision to relegate Rodrygo to the bench. Statistically, Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe are better. The Frenchman was voted player of the month at Real Madrid and is currently the club’s top scorer this season. What’s more, he’s a household name, considered to be one of the best footballers in the world, if not the best. At 25, he has already conquered the international stage with a World Cup with France and other major titles. By joining Real Madrid, Mbappe is the star, the galactic recruit, and is not expected to be a substitute in any scenario.

The same goes for Vinicius Jr, who has grown in stature season after season. Despite the departure of Karim Benzema, Vini has never ceased to make an impact. He carried Real Madrid last season with some important goals in La Liga and especially in the Champions League. These performances have made him a firm favourite for the 2024 ball. Rodrygo is clearly below Kylian Mbappe and Vunicius Jr at Real Madrid, and Carlo Ancelotti could only relegate him to the bench if he wants to play with two strikers.
Rodrygo wants to leave Real Madrid, today’s scoop
Rodrygo Goes ‘ performances at Real Madrid, although below expectations, have only strengthened the case for his imminent departure. According to As on Tuesday, the rumours surrounding Rodrygo Goes’ future could well reappear as the player’s entourage begin to worry. The media outlet insists that the Auriverde is remaining calm at Real Madrid, but the emerging trend is clear: he is thinking of leaving at the end of the season.

Rodrygo Goes’ situation at Real Madrid has not escaped the attention of the Premier League giants. Manchester City and Liverpool in particular are keeping a close eye on his situation. If things do not improve under Carlo Ancelotti, it would not be surprising to see these clubs make a move for the Auriverde international at the next transfer window.
For the time being, however, Rodrygo remains committed to the Real Madrid project, but how much longer will he put up with this situation? If the rotations introduced by Carlo Ancelotti continue and he continues to be relegated to the bench, his departure could become inevitable.
