A few hours before the grand ceremony of the Ballon d’Or 2024, the editor-in-chief of France Football, Vincent Garcia, has spilled all the beans on Cristiano Ronaldo.
While discussions continue about the Clasico, which left a very bitter taste for the Madrid fans this weekend, the Ballon d’Or ceremony is set to overshadow some of the debates. This Monday, France Football will officially unveil Lionel Messi’s successor. For this 68th edition, Vinicius Junior is announced as the frontrunner, ahead of other players like Jude Bellingham, Dani Carvajal, Toni Kroos, and Rodri. Although several celebrities are expected at the Théâtre des Châtelet in Paris, it seems likely that Cristiano Ronaldo will not be seen.
The confidences of France Football

A five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who has just had an extraordinary season with Al Nassr, CR7 could secure the Gerd Müller Trophy for the season’s top scorer this Monday in France. While he should normally be present to accept this trophy, the officials at France Football are not certain that the 39-year-old player will respond to the invitation. According to Vincent Garcia, editor-in-chief of the French magazine that crowns the world’s best players each season, Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly angry with them.
Explaining the latest developments regarding this year’s ceremony to the newspaper L’Équipe, the France Football official stated that the former Real Madrid star has not voted since last season. “Winners have the right to return to all future ceremonies, but they don’t all attend; some are very unhappy with us,” Garcia initially remarked.
Cristiano Ronaldo no longer votes

While he indicates that he does not know for certain if the Portuguese forward is genuinely against their event, the editor-in-chief of the magazine explains how CR7 has been boycotting the recent editions. “I don’t know for certain if Cristiano is, I don’t speak to him directly, but I know for example that former winners vote for the Kopa Trophy – for the best young player – and Cristiano did not vote last year, nor has he voted this year,” he added.
It must be said that Cristiano Ronaldo is no longer in favour with the Ballon d’Or ceremony. Since being overlooked as one of the top candidates to win the trophy in recent years, the captain of Al Nassr has openly cast doubt on France Football. We await to see if he will make an exception this year by attending the Théâtre des Châtelet in Paris to possibly witness Vinicius Junior win his first major individual trophy at 24 years of age.
