Kylian Mbappé, scorer of the first goal at Leganés, not only contributed to Real Madrid’s 3-0 victory, but was also impressed by his exemplary behaviour, which was appreciated by the captain of the rival club Sergio Gonzalez.

Kylian Mbappé was in the spotlight after an international break during which he worked at Valdebebas. Back with Real Madrid, the French striker played on the left wing, leaving the point of attack to Vinícius Jr. It was a tactical adjustment that enabled Mbappé to play an active role in the 3-0 victory over Leganés, scoring with a pinpoint pass… from the Auriverde.

While her performance in this role was not excellent, she did show signs of progress in her understanding with her team-mates. Carlo Ancelotti, interviewed in the press conference, made no bones about his contribution. ‘He did what I expected of him. He scored and had a good attitude throughout the match,’ said the Transalpine coach.

Leganés captain praises Mbappé’s attitude

In addition to his impact on the pitch, Kylian Mbappé made a strong impression off it, particularly with Leganés captain Sergio Gonzalez. Interviewed by Radio Marca, Gonzalez praised the French player’s behaviour, describing him as a role model for the young spectators.

‘Madrid have some of the best strikers in the world. We tried to cover Mbappé’s spaces because he is very dangerous in these situations. I’d like to highlight his attitude, which is exemplary. He’s done some great things for us. He’s an example for a lot of children watching. Unlike other players, he showed great respect on the pitch,’ said Gonzalez.

Despite the defeat, Sergio Gonzalez also shared an honest analysis of the match. ‘It was a very special game for us. It’s been a difficult promotion and to face Real Madrid generates a lot of enthusiasm. We had a very good first half where we applied our plan. It was a shame to concede Mbappé’s goal just before half-time, it changed the dynamic,’ he added.

Gonzalez did, however, express a certain pride in his team’s performance. ‘We’re leaving a bit downcast because of the scoreline, but also with the feeling that we stood up to a great team. The goals we conceded were due to our mistakes, but we showed that we have what it takes to play at this level,’ concluded Gonzalez.
