Real Madrid coach since 2021, Carlo Ancelotti made a big revelation on Tuesday in front of the press. While some media outlets are reporting his departure at the end of the season, the Italian coach has revealed his secret plan with Florentino Pérez.
The news surrounding Real Madrid has been intense in recent weeks. Entering the second half of the season with high ambitions, Florentino Pérez’s club, which has just been officially extended as president until 2029, has many issues on the table. While the team’s level, and particularly the squad, worries several Madrid fans, the coach’s responsibility is also being discussed. Criticised for his player choices and the lack of a clear tactical plan for major matches, Carlo Ancelotti is on everyone’s lips. On Monday, Onda Cero announced the coach’s departure at the end of the season.
“The plan is to stay here… for another 4 years”

To quickly put an end to the speculation, the main person involved appeared before the press on Tuesday. Arriving to discuss the match between Real Madrid and RB Salzburg in the seventh and penultimate matchday of the Champions League qualification, Carlo Ancelotti quickly dismissed any idea of a desired departure. “Leaving Real Madrid? No. I want to be very clear. I will never decide to leave Real Madrid. That day will come, but it won’t be me who decides. It could be tomorrow or in 5 years. The plan is to stay here with Florentino for another 4 years and then say goodbye.“
Despite the criticism, Ancelotti trusts the general sentiment he feels. “Do I lack affection? I don’t think so. If we’re talking about affection, I feel very loved by everyone here. Sometimes, we might exaggerate a little and lose some focus, but I prefer to continue following my own path. Affection doesn’t bother me, but the goal remains to move forward,” added the 65-year-old coach.
Ancelotti truly set to stay at Madrid?

After the clear words from the former Milan AC player, the debate is reignited. While many support the idea that it would be unfair to sack the Italian coach, who has achieved exceptional feats since his arrival at the club, the idea of seeing him extend beyond 2026 is not universally appreciated. As the squad changes and the years go by, it seems important to explore other horizons to avoid monotony or the feeling of having already achieved everything. Much more attached to his convictions, Carlo Ancelotti is increasingly failing to meet expectations.
With the excellent performances of Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen, Florentino Pérez might end his collaboration with Carlo Ancelotti. Should the team fail to achieve good results by the end of the season, the future of the former Bayern Munich coach could take a different turn.
