Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez is on course to secure the signing of another top talent from the Spanish national team. According to recent reports, it is only a matter of time, and things could accelerate by the end of the season.
With a packed football calendar, clubs are constantly refreshing their squads. For most club executives, having young players capable of keeping up with the intense fixture schedule is crucial. At Real Madrid, this policy has been in place for several years, with the club moving away from signing players approaching their thirties. Recently, Florentino Pérez even rejected the idea of bringing back Sergio Ramos to reinforce the defence. The same applies to Jonathan Tah (30), the Bayer Leverkusen captain, who was offered to Madrid on a free transfer for the summer.
Joaquín Maroto’s revelation

Now, the priority is to develop young talents from the academy or recruit already established young players. When it comes to transfers, Real Madrid could make some key signings at the end of the season. In addition to the name of Trent Alexander-Arnold, which has been strongly linked, Florentino Pérez is reportedly eyeing young Spanish-Dutch defender Dean Huijsen. At 19 years old, the Bournemouth centre-back, who recently received a call-up to the Spanish national team like Raúl Asencio, is seen as a potential signing.
Strong, fast, and two-footed, Huijsen is the latest defensive prodigy that Real Madrid is keen to secure this summer. Valued at €50 million, the Amsterdam-born defender is already being described by Madrid-based media as “almost” a done deal for Pérez.
“Dean Huijsen plays on the left side of defence because he is very good with his left foot, but he is naturally right-footed. He has now become ambidextrous (…) Alaba will be 33 in June and his contract expires next year, Militao suffered a serious knee injury… A centre-back must be signed, and the profiles need to be well-balanced. Ideally, he should be left-footed, and Dean Huijsen fits that profile perfectly,” explained journalist Joaquín Maroto on Ramón Álvarez de Mon’s channel.
A great deal in the making for Real Madrid

According to Joaquín Maroto, the young defender’s father, a former footballer whose career was cut short due to off-field issues, has already visited Real Madrid’s facilities. “I wouldn’t be surprised if Real Madrid sign Dean Huijsen this summer because the club has already taken a key step. They invited the boy’s father to visit Valdebebas. The father has already been to the training centre, but the player himself hasn’t, as that would attract too much attention. Huijsen is a big Real Madrid fan and wants to play for the club,” he added.
With a €50 million release clause—potentially negotiable—the young defender could soon join forces with Raúl Asencio in Madrid’s backline for years to come. Given that this amount is well within the club’s financial reach, Florentino Pérez could strike a deal similar to that of Vinicius Junior, who was signed for around €50 million and is now worth four times as much. A transfer to watch closely…
