A dark night for Real Madrid. Facing Osasuna this Saturday in the 13th round of La Liga, Carlo Ancelotti’s team lost three players to injury, with Éder Militão’s being the most serious. Moments after the match, the dreadful verdict was revealed.
Real Madrid found their way back to victory at the Santiago Bernabéu this Saturday. Following two painful defeats against Barça in El Clásico and against Milan in the Champions League last Tuesday, Carlo Ancelotti’s team made a resounding comeback, defeating Osasuna 4-0. Led by a superb Vinícius Júnior, who scored a hat-trick, Madrid’s players showed plenty of positive signs. Unfortunately, the cost of this victory was huge, with three injuries occurring in the first half.
The dreadful verdict for Éder Militão

Starting in the lineup alongside Rüdiger, Éder Militão injured himself on an attacking run in the 30th minute. In tears and carried off on a stretcher, the Brazilian defender, who had already suffered a severe injury to his left knee last season, heads back to the medical room. Once again, the 26-year-old central defender has torn the ligaments in his right knee, as confirmed by Real Madrid after the final whistle.
“Following tests conducted today on our player Éder Militão by Real Madrid’s medical staff, a complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament with damage to both menisci in the right leg has been diagnosed. Militão will undergo surgery in the coming days,” stated the club’s official announcement on its website. Like Dani Carvajal, then, the Brazilian defender will miss the rest of the season, with a minimum recovery time of 9 months, according to Spanish media.
An emergency for Real Madrid

For Carlo Ancelotti, it’s a terrible blow. Already struggling with available players, the 65-year-old coach will now have to contend with these additional absences, especially Militão’s. It should be noted that for Rodrygo Goes, who was the first to leave the pitch this Saturday (20th minute), the expected recovery time for his muscle injury is one month, which is one week longer than Lucas Vázquez, who will miss three weeks of competition due to an injury behind his thigh.
With these new injuries, it’s almost essential for Florentino Pérez to bring in new defenders to strengthen the squad. Although reserve players like Raúl Asensio are available, the demands of top-level competition push Madrid’s management to look for experienced players to bolster the team for the rest of the season. The upcoming days promise to be intense in Madrid.
