Real Madrid capitalised on their opportunity this Sunday. Facing Getafe during the 15th matchday of La Liga at Santiago Bernabéu, Carlo Ancelotti’s side secured a 2-0 victory, closing the gap to just one point behind the leaders, with a game in hand.

While things have been challenging for Real Madrid in the Champions League, their domestic form is much brighter. Following a win over Leganés, the Madrid side picked up three more points in La Liga against Getafe this Sunday. A penalty from Jude Bellingham set the tone, and a fine strike by Kylian Mbappé in the 38th minute doubled the lead before the break. Despite dominating the match, Los Blancos missed several chances in the second half to extend the scoreline, but the key objective was achieved. Here are the player ratings for Ancelotti’s squad.

Mbappé and Real Madrid dominate Getafe: Ancelotti's players' ratings!

Thibaut Courtois (6)

A relatively quiet evening for the Madrid goalkeeper. Well supported by the defensive pairing, Courtois faced little threat from Getafe’s attackers, especially in the first half. Involved in building from the back, the Belgian giant contributed to the team’s play and delivered when called upon in the second half.

Antonio Rüdiger (7)

Another masterclass from the German rock. Consistently dependable since the start of the season, Rüdiger expertly neutralised Getafe’s offensive efforts. Early on, he forced Ngom into an error that led to the first yellow card of the match. In the 28th minute, he won the penalty that Bellingham converted in the 30th.

An outstanding performance once again from the former Chelsea player, who has been a key asset in defence.

Raúl Asensio (6.5)

The new fan favourite continued to deliver. Paired with the industrious Rüdiger, the 21-year-old defender, standing in for Éder Militão after his serious knee injury, displayed composure and precision in his tackles. Asensio’s calm demeanour justified the belief that Real Madrid’s academy holds a wealth of talent.

Fran García (7)

A player who works tirelessly without seeking the spotlight. Deputising for Ferland Mendy, the young left-back contributed effectively on both ends of the pitch. His early crosses provided attacking options, and defensively, García thwarted several of Getafe’s dangerous moments. His ball progression set up the play leading to Mbappé’s goal.

Another strong showing for García, who may leave Los Blancos at the season’s end as the Alphonso Davies transfer saga unfolds.

Lucas Vázquez (6)

Back on his familiar right flank in La Liga, the 33-year-old full-back delivered a solid, unspectacular performance. Against an offensively limited side, Vázquez stuck to basics and fulfilled his duties effectively.

Dani Ceballos (6.5)

Ceballos continues to surprise following the Leganés match. Taking advantage of Aurélien Tchouaméni’s injury, the former Betis Sevilla player put in another impressive shift. His cross-field passes, reminiscent of Toni Kroos, helped maintain Real Madrid’s control throughout the game. A good performance!

Federico Valverde (6.5)

As ever, Valverde gave his all. Starting in a midfield trio, the Uruguayan captain contributed tirelessly to ball recovery despite being less effective with his passing. His work rate was vital in maintaining the team’s rhythm.

Jude Bellingham (7)

The first scorer of the game and the provider for the second goal, Bellingham delivered a flawless display against Getafe. As a key leader in this team, the English midfielder demonstrated resilience, enduring several fouls in the first half before being substituted for Arda Güler at halftime.

Brahim Díaz (6)

Faced with a physical and foul-heavy opponent, the Moroccan player struggled to shine. Nevertheless, he played a role in several offensive sequences and did not disappoint overall.

Rodrygo Goes (6)

Making his return after a brief injury, the 23-year-old Brazilian forward caused significant problems for Getafe’s defenders. His intelligent movement supported Mbappé in attack, earning him a respectable performance rating.

Kylian Mbappé (7)

The French striker found his groove again. In a challenging period, Mbappé scored a sensational goal and showcased why he is seen as a future star at Real Madrid. Playing predominantly on his preferred left wing, he demonstrated flair and determination. Mbappé nearly added a second with a brilliant move that narrowly missed the target.

A strong outing for the French captain, who enjoys unwavering support from Madrid’s hierarchy.
