At the Bernabéu, Real Madrid electrified their fans with a moment of magic. Luka Modrić got the better of Girona with a golazo from a corner. This spectacular technical gesture enabled Los Merengues to take the lead just before half-time.

Real Madrid lead 1-0 at half-time against Girona! The 40th-minute corner provided a unique opportunity. Girona’s defenders were struggling to organise their cover, leaving a space that Modrić cleverly exploited. The Croatian captain controlled the ball with his chest before firing the shot into the top corner of the Girona goal.

Even Jude Bellingham rose from his seat in the stands to cheer the 2018 Golden Ball winner. It’s probably the goal of the season. Real Madrid are provisionally back in 2nd place in the league, level on points with leaders Barcelona.
