In a one-sided game in which Kylian Mbappe once again disappointed, Real Madrid lost 2-0 to Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday evening. Without the injured Vinicius Jr, the Casa Blanca side were unable to withstand the Reds’ dominance. Mac Allister opened the scoring in the 52nd minute before Cody Gakpo made it 2-0 in the 77th minute. Kylian Mbappe, who had the chance to equalise for Madrid, missed his penalty. Here are the scores for Carlo Ancelotti’s players.
Thibaut Courtois: 7
On a great Champions League night, Thibaut Courtois is bound to come up trumps. The Real Madrid goalkeeper pulled off a string of saves to ensure Carlo Ancelotti’s side went into the break without conceding. The Red Devil proved once again why many consider him to be the best goalkeeper in the world.

Federico Valverde: 7.5
Playing on the right side of defence for the second time, Federico Valverde was one of Real Madrid’s best players against Liverpool. The Uruguayan midfielder constantly stood up to Luis Diaz and gave Raúl Asencio plenty of cover. Nor does he hesitate to go up and help in the build-up.
Raúl Asencio: 7
In his first Champions League match, Raúl Asencio put everyone in agreement with his performance at Anfield on Wednesday night. The young defender from Castilla, who replaces Eder Militao who suffered cruciate ligament damage, never showed any signs of worry. Committed, pressing, intercepting and covering, Raúl Asencio did it all tonight.

Antonio Rüdiger: 6
Raúl Asencio looks like he was made to play alongside Antonio Rüdiger. The German defender was the boss at the back against the Reds. He raises his voice, guides Asencio and when he needs to be there, Rüdiger does so with authority.
Ferland Mendy: 5
Having struggled since the start of the season, Ferland Mendy was one of Real Madrid’s weak links at Anfield on Wednesday evening. Although he was solid defensively as usual, the French international did not really help out offensively, as Fédé Valverde did.
Edouardo Camavinga: 8
Real Madrid’s best player against Liverpool on Wednesday. Active in the build-up, Camavinga was quick to get forward and make everyone around him shine. As at Leganés, the French midfielder was everywhere at once and caused the Reds plenty of problems. Unfortunately, he went off injured after Liverpool had taken the lead.

Jude Bellingham; 5.5
Although he was eagerly awaited in this match, Jude Bellingham completely missed out. Not influential in midfield and a little too nonchalant when it came to making decisions, Bellingham, who was constantly whistled at by the Anfiled crowd, seemed out of his depth and did not deliver a performance worthy of his reputation.
Luka Modric: 7
Who would have imagined that 39-year-old Luka Modric could perform at such a high level in a Champions League match against Liverpool? The veteran Croatian brought not only experience, but also quality to the midfield.
Arda Güler: 5.5
Having started strongly, Arda Güler gradually dropped in intensity. The young Turkish phenomenon, who amazed everyone last Sunday at Leganés, did not repeat the same level of performance, even if he is not the worst Madrid player at Anfield. The former Fenerbahçe cracker did, however, add some technique and often speed to Madrid’s play before his exit.
Brahim Diaz: 6
Expected to share the leadership of the attack with Kylian Mbappe in the absence of Vinicius Jr, Brahim Diaz put in some fine performances, even if he was not decisive. The Moroccan international complemented the French striker well.
Kylian Mbappe: 3
Kylian Mbappe did not have a bad game, moving around on his left flank. He did not put in a scintillating performance against Liverpool either. The French international striker tried to carry Real Madrid’s attack, without really succeeding. But it was his penalty miss on the hour mark that further hampered Real Madrid, who had had a golden opportunity to equalise.
