In a fit of rage, Valverde points the finger of blame after the rout

Real Madrid surprisingly lost 1-3 to AC Milan at the Bernabeu. After the match, Federico Valverde made no secret of his disappointment and went on a rant.

Despite a boiling hot Bernabéu, Real Madrid went down completely on Tuesday evening 1-3 against AC Milan on matchday 4 of the Champions League. Trailing early on in the game, Carlo Ancelotti’s men equalised from the penalty spot through Vinicius Jr. But after the break, AC Milan ran riot. The Rossoneri scored two more goals and would even have scored more had it not been for a great Andriy Lunin in goal.

While Kylian Mbappé continued to be criticised for his lacklustre display, it was Carlo Ancelotti’s team that failed to deliver. Fede Valverde, who came off in the second half, was not his usual influential self either.

Valverde’s back aches and he is angry with himself after the rout

Although he was doubtful for the match against AC Milan after missing the penultimate training session, Fede Valverde was not at 100% for Carlo Ancelotti’s side. The Uruguayan international midfielder was just like his team-mates and did not work too hard against the Rossoneri.

Replaced by Eduardo Camavinga in the 46th minute, Fede was left blaming himself for a back injury that prevented him from giving his all. Carlo Ancelotti’s all-rounder made no secret of his anger after the match. ‘We’re missing something to have a good version. My back hurts and the scoreline doesn’t help,’ he declared at the post-match press conference on Tuesday.

Valverde

Next up in the Champions League, Real Madrid travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool, hoping to win and move up the table. We should have a great Fede Valverde, far from the physical problems he had against the Reds.
