As tensions rise in recent weeks at Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti and Florentino Pérez are reported to have had a discussion following the debacle against AC Milan last Tuesday. Regarding Arda Güler and Endrick, who are no longer playing, the 65-year-old coach has explained his position.
Real Madrid is in trouble. Just a few days away from another match at the Santiago Bernabéu against Osasuna, Madrid fans are dissatisfied with the current state of the team, which is coming off the back of two heavy defeats. While the performances of certain players, such as Kylian Mbappé and Aurélien Tchouaméni, are underwhelming, Carlo Ancelotti is making very few changes. Indeed, despite having at his disposal players like Arda Güler, who has shone in national duty and training sessions, or Endrick, who has already scored twice this season, the 65-year-old coach is offering these players no playing time.
The discussion between Florentino Pérez and Ancelotti

According to information from Marca, confirmed by Defensa Central, Carlo Ancelotti and the Real Madrid president held a discussion in recent days regarding the team’s issues. When it came to the usage of Güler and Endrick, which has sparked much debate among Madrid fans in recent weeks, the coach gave his reasoning. Reportedly, the Italian manager informed the Real Madrid CEO that while these two players are talented, they lack experience for major matches.
At times overly excited in their gameplay reactions, Arda Güler and Endrick have not convinced their coach to play them in big past matches. More specifically regarding the young Turk, whom many are eager to see play, Ancelotti criticises his lack of defensive effort. Believing that the presence of Kylian Mbappé and Vinicius Junior on the pitch deprives the team of players able to fulfil defensive duties, Don Carlo says he cannot add an attacking midfielder to the line-up.
Time for change

If the Madrid coach’s explanations have been accepted by the Real Madrid board, the directive has now shifted. Since the absence of these two young talents in recent matches has not made a difference, the management now expects the coach to change his approach. As many suggest, it is time for Arda Güler to have more playing time and for Endrick to lead the attack in upcoming matches.
After the recent string of “big games,” Real Madrid will now face teams that are relatively beatable on paper. This Saturday, it will be Osasuna before the FIFA international break. For this match, it is almost imperative that Güler steps onto the pitch to show his ability. If Kylian Mbappé is also expected to start, Endrick should make an appearance to prove he can make his mark at Madrid.
In any case, Florentino Pérez and his colleagues are awaiting rapid changes from the technical staff, who could face dismissal if new disappointments occur before the end of the year.
