PSG is still struggling to come to terms with Kylian Mbappé’s departure to Real Madrid. While the 25-year-old forward and Nasser Al-Khelaïfi’s club are embroiled in a dispute over unpaid salary and bonuses, Cyril Hanouna has unleashed on the new Madrid player.
It’s well known that there’s a war between Paris Saint-Germain and Kylian Mbappé. After seven years of collaboration, including a very tumultuous final season, the two sides parted ways this summer. Having joined Real Madrid, where he had been expected for over two years, the French forward is seeking a legendary performance to truly kick off his journey. Despite scoring 10 goals in 19 matches, the Bondy native has faced plenty of criticism for his style of play. While awaiting the breakthrough performance that will silence his critics, Cyril Hanouna has lashed out at the Madrid star.
“He’s caught in a spiral of failure”
Speaking candidly, the C8 host, who is a close ally of PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, stated on Monday that the French striker’s move to Spain was the biggest mistake of his career. “He made the biggest mistake of his life by going to Real Madrid. He’s caught in a spiral of failure (…) Mbappé should have stayed at PSG, won the Champions League with this club, and become a Ballon d’Or winner with them. The club gave him everything; it would have been his club. He would have been the leader at PSG.“
This bitter outburst reveals the true resentment of Parisians towards Real Madrid’s new No. 9. Given that during his seven years in the French capital, the Bondy native neither won the Ballon d’Or nor the Champions League — which seems unlikely to arrive anytime soon, judging by the current state of Luis Enrique’s team — one cannot say Mbappé made a mistake by joining Real Madrid, the club that creates stars.
Mbappé destined for greatness in Madrid
Despite a sluggish start, Fayza Lamari and Wilfried Mbappé’s son is unlikely to remain in his current difficult situation for long. Supported by Carlo Ancelotti and the entire institution led by Florentino Pérez, the former Paris Saint-Germain star is starting to find his feet. Scoring a fine goal last Sunday in La Liga against Getafe, Kylian Mbappé showed plenty of promise. Reported to have been struggling mentally in recent weeks, the French captain appears to be regaining his smile.
As Thibaut Courtois recently stated, things will eventually fall into place for the former Monaco player, who remains one of the best players in the world. With the status of Florentino Pérez’s favourite player, enjoying the president’s unwavering trust, KM9 seems set to achieve great things with the Spanish capital’s greatest club.
