Lyon is reportedly leading the race to secure a loan deal for Real Madrid‘s young striker, Endrick, as the January transfer window approaches. Sources indicate that the Ligue 1 club is not alone in its pursuit of the Brazilian forward, who has yet to make his La Liga debut this season.
At just 19 years old, Endrick has been sidelined due to an injury that kept him out of action since May. Despite recovering, he has not seen any playing time under coach Carlo Ancelotti. Recently, it was reported that the talented forward is open to a loan move in search of regular playing time, ideally in the Champions League. However, he has expressed willingness to join a team like Lyon that is competing in the Europa League.
Loan Conditions and Competition
Endrick’s potential move to Lyon could be facilitated by the fact that Paulo Fonseca, the club’s manager, speaks Portuguese, which would help ease his transition. Lyon would need to pay a loan fee to Madrid and cover Endrick’s salary of €400,000 per month. With various clubs across Spain, Germany, and Italy also eyeing the player, Lyon faces stiff competition in securing his services.
Frustration at Madrid
The Brazilian’s frustration has been palpable; during a recent La Liga match against Getafe on October 19, he warmed up but was left on the bench, visibly upset when informed he would not be introduced. This incident reportedly marked a turning point for him regarding his future at Madrid. In July, it was noted that Madrid might consider loaning him out to ensure his development continues without being hindered by a lack of first-team action. Initially resistant to leaving the Bernabéu, Endrick now appears more open to the prospect.
Real Madrid signed Endrick from Palmeiras back in 2022 but had to wait until July 2024 for him to officially join the squad upon turning 18. As discussions heat up about his potential loan move, fans will be keenly watching how this situation unfolds and whether Lyon can secure this promising talent.
