In his first Clasico, the excited Bondynois struggled to make an impact, being flagged offside eight times against Barcelona—a frustrating statistic given his star status. The most disheartening moment came when his seemingly legitimate goal was ruled out by VAR.
In the 30th minute, receiving a pass from Lucas Vázquez, Mbappé sprinted into the Barcelona penalty area and delicately lobbed the ball over goalkeeper Iñaki Peña to score. Following the goal, he celebrated exuberantly, but the joy was short-lived as VAR intervened to negate the goal.
Raphinha humiliates Mbappé with humor
After the halftime break, things became even more challenging for Real Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti’s side paid dearly for their positional errors as Robert Lewandowski scored a quick brace. Lamine Yamal then dazzled with a beautiful goal to make it 3-0 before Raphinha, launched into space behind the Madrid defense, shrugged off Éder Militão to beat Andriy Lunin with a delightful lob.
At that moment, the Brazilian international recalled Mbappé’s earlier goal that had been disallowed for offside and decided to mock him. Raphinha immediately replicated Mbappé’s goal celebration as a taunt. Unsurprisingly, the images went viral, especially in Madrid, where fans were less than pleased with the incident.
