Real Madrid Faces Injury Crisis Ahead of Clásico

Real Madrid is grappling with a wave of injuries that threatens to derail their preparation for the highly anticipated Clásico on October 26 at the Santiago Bernabéu. The international break has left several key players returning to Madrid with physical concerns, most notably Dean Huijsen, who suffered a soleus muscle injury in his left leg while with the Spanish national team. Although considered moderate, this setback could sideline him for approximately ten days.

The situation is further complicated by Kylian Mbappé’s condition. Recently back in Madrid, the French star is not expected to be rested against Getafe this Sunday, according to MARCA. His medical team is following a recovery protocol similar to that used for Militao, who previously required rest before rejoining the squad. Additionally, Argentine midfielder Mastantuono has returned with a muscle overload, described by the club as minor yet significant enough to keep him out of international duty.

Defensive Woes Continue

Xabi Alonso faces a daunting task as he manages a depleted defense line. The recent Champions League match against Kairat highlighted these challenges, with five key defenders unavailable. The absence of players like Rüdiger, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Ferland Mendy continues to strain resources. While Dani Carvajal shows promising signs of recovery and might return for the Clásico, Rüdiger and Trent need more time for individual training sessions, casting doubt on their availability. Mendy, sidelined since April’s end, is expected to resume group training soon, though his full return remains uncertain.

Midfield Adjustments

The return of Jude Bellingham from shoulder surgery offers some relief for Real Madrid’s midfield. His presence could offset Mastantuono’s likely absence, providing Alonso with crucial options in the center of the park. As the Clásico looms, the focus will be on maximizing available resources and ensuring tactical flexibility.

The Clásico not only represents a pivotal match in La Liga but also a test of resilience for Real Madrid amidst this injury crisis. With strategic adjustments and careful management of player fitness, Alonso aims to navigate these challenges and maintain competitive momentum.
