During the recent General Assembly of Real Madrid socios, club president Florentino Pérez delivered a passionate address that highlighted the organization’s remarkable achievements and future aspirations. A retrospective video celebrating the successes of both the men’s and women’s football teams, as well as the basketball squads, set the tone for this significant event. With over 1,500 representatives in attendance, Pérez emphasized the profound responsibility that comes with being part of such a prestigious club.
Pérez opened his speech by expressing gratitude for the trust bestowed upon him for another four-year term. “This year, you have renewed your confidence in me to continue leading this club,” he stated. He underscored the importance of maintaining Real Madrid’s status as the world’s best club, noting that the foundation of their success lies in hard work, sacrifice, respect, and solidarity. “What we represent here in this Assembly is a family built on these values,” he added.
Reflecting on a decade of dominance, Pérez proudly announced that Real Madrid has secured an impressive 58 titles over the past ten years, including six UEFA Champions League trophies and three EuroLeague titles. He highlighted that despite facing unprecedented challenges—such as a global pandemic and international conflicts—the club has remained a beacon of stability. “Our resilience has allowed us to dominate global rankings; we are recognized as the most valuable club in the world by Forbes,” he remarked.
Acknowledging Challenges and Team Resilience
Pérez turned his attention to the men’s football team, recalling their journey over the last 15 seasons where they amassed 30 titles. He acknowledged that last season was particularly challenging due to significant injuries to key players like Dani Carvajal and Éder Militão. “We fought until the end in every competition,” he stated, emphasizing that injuries had affected their performance but didn’t diminish their spirit. “We played 68 matches while our international players participated in over 80,” he noted, commending his squad’s tenacity.
He also welcomed new signings such as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Franco Mastantuono into the fold, expressing confidence in their ability to contribute to the team’s success. Pérez highlighted standout players like Vinícius Júnior, who recently won The Best award for 2024, and Kylian Mbappé, who has already netted 18 goals this season. “This team is not just talented; they are all deeply passionate about Real Madrid,” he asserted.
Honoring Departing Legends
In a heartfelt segment of his speech, Pérez paid tribute to several departing legends of the club. He began with Carlo Ancelotti, who has won a record 15 titles as manager. “Thank you, Carlo. This club will always be your life,” he said warmly. The president then acknowledged Luka Modric’s extraordinary contributions as the most decorated player in Real Madrid history with 28 titles. “Luka embodies everything this club stands for,” he declared.
Pérez also recognized Lucas Vázquez and Jesús Vallejo for their dedication and professionalism during their tenures at the club. “Lucas leaves us as a legend with 23 titles to his name,” he noted amidst applause from attendees.
The president then shifted focus to Real Madrid’s youth academy, celebrating its success in producing top talent. Currently, 199 players are competing at various levels in professional leagues worldwide, with eight academy graduates now part of the first team.
Spotlight on Women’s Football
Turning to women’s football, Pérez acknowledged its growth within the club framework. The women’s team finished second in their league and reached the quarter-finals of European competition under coach Pau Quesada. He praised outgoing captain Olga Carmona for her leadership and commitment.
As he concluded his address, Pérez reiterated Real Madrid’s commitment to social responsibility through its foundation, which aids over 400,000 vulnerable individuals annually. “Real Madrid is a club that stands by those in need,” he affirmed.
Pérez’s address resonated with pride and ambition, setting a clear path for continued success both on and off the pitch.
