Real Madrid faced a disappointing defeat at the Santiago Bernabéu, falling 2-1 to Manchester City, leaving the players visibly frustrated. Rodrygo, who scored the opening goal in the first half, shared his thoughts with Movistar after the match. The Brazilian acknowledged that his team let an opportunity slip away, stating, “It wasn’t enough. We are very frustrated. The first half went well; we scored early, but it ultimately wasn’t sufficient. We need to improve.”

Rodrygo emphasized the importance of details in high-stakes matches, a theme that resonated throughout the game. “These matches are often decided by small things,” he remarked. “We train hard on these aspects, but when it comes to match day, we need to execute better.” Despite the team’s overall disappointment, he found a silver lining in his performance, marking his first goal since March. “I really needed this goal. I always strive to score and contribute to the team. I must keep training and stay focused. I hope this goal helps me regain my best form,” he added.

A Moment of Solidarity

After the match, Rodrygo also took a moment to reflect on his interaction with Xabi Alonso, acknowledging the challenging situation for the coach as well. “It’s a tough moment for him as well,” he noted. “Things aren’t going well right now, and we need to show our support for our coach. There’s a lot of talk around us; we need unity to move forward.” His comments underscore the pressure surrounding the squad and the importance of maintaining morale amid adversity.

Facing the Fans

Rodrygo did not shy away from addressing the jeers from fans during the match. “It’s normal,” he said candidly. “This is a club with demanding supporters. It’s fair; we have to accept it.” This acknowledgment reflects a broader understanding within the squad about meeting high expectations at Real Madrid.

The loss against Manchester City marks another hurdle for Carlo Ancelotti‘s side in their quest for success this season. With upcoming matches on the horizon, Rodrygo and his teammates will need to regroup quickly and channel their frustrations into improved performances.
