Not called up by Didier Deschamps for the international break in October, Kylian Mbappé took advantage of his days off to travel to Sweden. The Real Madrid striker, recovering from injury, was expected to prepare for his club’s next major fixtures. But his stay in Stockholm took an unexpected turn.
According to Swedish newspaper Expressen, the evening of 9 October began in a nightclub called ‘V’. Mbappé, accompanied by Nordi Mukiele, is said to have met a group of women, including the complainant. ‘The atmosphere was festive, with everyone dancing and chatting freely’, said a witness present at the event.
Later, six women were invited to continue the evening in Mbappé’s suite at the Bank hotel. The complainant claims that she danced and kissed the French star. ‘We were dancing, he was charming and respectful at first’, she reportedly confided. But events took a dramatic turn when she found herself alone with him in the bathroom.
The complainant’s unexpected story
In her testimony, the young woman, aged in her twenties, stated that she had clearly expressed her refusal to have a sexual relationship. ‘I found it so disgusting, I felt disgusted and everything was disgusting’, she told investigators, according to the Swedish press. She claims that the incident lasted several minutes before Mbappé left the room. ‘I told him no several times, but he seemed to insist before finally leaving’, she reportedly added.
Two days later, the young woman decided to lodge a complaint for v*ol and two cases of s3xual harassment. During her hearing, she explained that she had felt deeply uncomfortable. ‘I couldn’t stop thinking about that night, it was too much to bear. I spoke to a friend and decided to go to the police station’, she said.
Case dismissed for lack of evidence, Mbappé can breathe a sigh of relief
Despite the accusations, the Swedish courts announced on Thursday that the case against Kylian Mbappé had been dropped. The prosecutor in charge of the investigation concluded that there was insufficient evidence to support the accusations made by the complainant. ‘The evidence collected does not make it possible to prove a criminal offence’, said a representative of the public prosecutor’s office.
This case, although closed, could have consequences for Kylian Mbappé’s reputation. A world football star, he is often in the spotlight for his performances on the pitch and his actions off it. This type of controversy is likely to have an impact on his public image, even if there is no judicial conviction.
