Real Madrid has become a prime target for the Saudi giants, who have expressed an interest in several of the club’s stars. In addition to Luka Modric and Vinicius Jr, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is now among the players Saudi Arabia are interested in.
Last summer, Saudi Arabia’s desire to lure Vinicius Jr was obvious. The Gulf state was prepared to offer the Brazil international an astronomical contract worth €200 million per season over five years. However, the Auriverde international opted to stay at Real Madrid, demonstrating his attachment to the Casa Blanca club.
As Saudi Arabia continues to look to strengthen its league, Thibaut Courtois has become a priority target for next summer. According to Spanish daily Marca, the Real Madrid goalkeeper has already been approached by Saudi Arabia in the past, and could try his luck again this summer.

Saudi Arabia’s biggest obstacle in the Courtois deal
Real Madrid will not be prepared to release Thibaut Courtois easily. The Belgian goalkeeper is under contract with the Merengue club until 2026, which gives Real Madrid significant negotiating leverage. Moreover, Courtois has been a key figure in Real Madrid’s recent success, making his departure unlikely unless an exceptional offer is made.
Saudi Arabia has big ambitions for its league. The country recently hosted the Spanish Supercup and is aiming to organise the Asian Nations Cup in 2027 and then the World Cup in 2030. As part of its efforts to improve the standard of its football, Saudi Arabia is looking to attract the best players in the world.

Courtois’ future at Real Madrid remains uncertain. While Saudi Arabia’s interest is obvious, the Belgian goalkeeper has expressed his desire to stay at Real Madrid. But if a sufficiently attractive offer is made, the Red Devils’ goalkeeper’s prospects could change.
