Real Madrid is starting to lose patience with Vinicius Jr.

Vinicius Jr’s future at Real Madrid has taken a dramatic turn, with fresh reports suggesting that his long-term stay at the Santiago Bernabéu is no longer guaranteed. According to SPORT, negotiations over a contract extension have reached a complete standstill, raising serious doubts about whether the Brazilian star will continue his journey with the Spanish giants. What initially appeared to be routine renewal talks has reportedly evolved into one of the club’s biggest concerns ahead of the new season.

The main obstacle is believed to be financial. Sources close to the negotiations claim that Vinicius Jr’s representatives are demanding terms that Real Madrid currently considers excessive. Among the requests is a loyalty bonus worth €15 million, in addition to a salary package that would place the Brazilian among the club’s highest-paid players. His entourage is reportedly seeking wages close to those earned by Kylian Mbappé, whose annual gross salary is estimated at around €30 million.

Florentino Pérez is said to have no intention of breaking the club’s wage structure, despite Vinicius Jr‘s importance to the team over the past few seasons. The Real Madrid president has built his recent transfer strategy around financial discipline and long-term sustainability. Although the Brazilian remains one of the club’s biggest stars, Pérez reportedly believes that no individual player should receive terms that could create imbalance within the dressing room or complicate future contract negotiations.

As a result, Real Madrid are now considering an option that would have seemed unthinkable only a few months ago. If no agreement can be reached in the coming weeks, the Spanish club could decide to sell Vinicius Jr rather than risk losing him for free when his contract expires. Such a decision would allow Madrid to generate a significant transfer fee while avoiding a situation similar to other high-profile departures seen across European football in recent years.

The possibility of a transfer has naturally attracted interest from several of Europe’s wealthiest clubs. Among them, Arsenal have emerged as one of the strongest contenders. According to recent reports, the Premier League side are carefully monitoring the situation and are prepared to make a major financial commitment if the opportunity arises. The Gunners are believed to be considering an offer worth as much as €160 million, a figure that would rank among the most expensive transfers in football history.

This developing situation comes at a particularly busy time for Real Madrid’s sporting management. While contract discussions with Vinicius remain unresolved, the club is simultaneously working on strengthening José Mourinho’s squad ahead of the upcoming campaign. Two names currently dominate Madrid’s transfer plans: Yan Diomandé and Rodri. Both players are viewed internally as key additions capable of reinforcing different areas of the team and helping Real Madrid return to the top of both Spanish and European football.

Yan Diomandé’s arrival appears especially significant in the context of the Vinicius negotiations. Interestingly, the young Ivorian winger is represented by the same agency as the Brazilian international. Diomandé is expected to arrive in Madrid soon to complete the final stages of his transfer, a move that many observers believe could indirectly influence the club’s stance regarding Vinicius. Although the two players have different profiles, Diomandé is considered one of the brightest attacking prospects in European football.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid continue to pursue Rodri as another priority target. The Spanish midfielder would add experience, leadership and tactical balance to Mourinho’s evolving project. Club officials reportedly believe that strengthening the squad now is essential, regardless of what eventually happens with Vinicius Jr. However, securing these major signings while simultaneously managing one of the biggest contract disputes in recent club history makes this summer one of the most challenging transfer windows Florentino Pérez has faced.

For now, no final decision has been made. Negotiations between the parties remain open, although neither side appears willing to compromise significantly on its current position. The coming weeks are therefore expected to be decisive. Whether Vinicius Jr renews his contract, stays under revised terms, or eventually leaves the Santiago Bernabéu, the outcome will have a major impact on Real Madrid’s future sporting project and could reshape the European transfer market before the window closes.
