The president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, is set to further cement his legendary status. Considered one of the greatest leaders in the history of the club since its creation, the 77-year-old sports executive is officially set to extend his tenure at the helm of the club.
A new chapter in the history of Real Madrid will begin next Monday. Led by Florentino Pérez since 2009, the biggest club in the Spanish capital is not ready for a change in leadership. Unlike FC Barcelona, where pressure is mounting on Joan Laporta to step down and make way for a new direction due to the club’s critical situation, everything is running smoothly in Madrid. Indeed, as in 2009, 2013, 2017, and most recently in 2021, no other candidate has come forward to challenge Pérez for his position.
A new Four-year term confirmed for Florentino Pérez

Undoubtedly backed by numerous socios and adored by millions of the club’s fans worldwide, the Spanish businessman continues to face no competition. With the team’s outstanding record, remaining at the top both sportingly and financially, Florentino Pérez will officially extend his leadership at the club until 2029. As the only candidate to submit his application for the position, the Madrid native is expected to be announced this Monday as the president of Real Madrid for the next four years.
Since January 7, when the application process began, no other Madridista has dared to submit a bid to rival Pérez. Highly respected, the current boss of Real will therefore continue to lead the club, founded in 1902 and granted professional status in 1910. To aspire to lead Los Blancos, candidates must be Spanish, of legal age, possess full legal capacity, and be a socio of the club with at least twenty years of uninterrupted membership for the presidency, fifteen years for vice-presidents, and ten years for all other positions.
Additional prerequisites for applying to lead Los Blancos include providing a financial guarantee worth 15% of the club’s general budget and not holding executive positions at other football clubs or being active as a player, referee, coach, or technician for any club at the time of application submission.
Florentino Pérez’s key goals until 2029

Now certain to continue leading the Madrid club for the next four years, the 77-year-old’s primary goal is to keep the team at the top. Achieving this will require smart signings to strengthen the squad, particularly in defence, and ensuring the club’s financial stability. Regarding financial stability, Florentino Pérez is determined to launch the Super League. Despite UEFA’s persistent refusal to facilitate the project, this competition faces significant challenges, but with his determination, Pérez will do everything to achieve his objective.
According to Diario AS, other major objectives for the Real Madrid president include modifying the ownership structure of the club and pushing for the Santiago Bernabéu to be selected as the venue for the 2030 World Cup final.
