A few hours before the grand final of the 2025 Spanish Super Cup between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona in Saudi Arabia, Carlo Ancelotti reveals his official line-up.
Football fans are in for a treat in just a few moments. To truly kick off the new year 2025, Spain’s two biggest clubs will face off in a Superclásico with the aim of winning the first trophy of the year. Having defeated Athletic Bilbao (2-0) and Mallorca (3-0) respectively, Barça and Real Madrid meet in a thrilling Spanish Super Cup final. While the Merengues’ goal is to win in order to avenge the humiliation suffered on 26 October in La Liga and, above all, to retain the trophy they won last year, the Catalans are determined to triumph to solidify their strong form in the Clásico and secure a title.
Real Madrid’s tactical plan against Barça

For this crucial match, Carlo Ancelotti has put together a starting XI built around a 4-3-3 formation. Just as he did in the semi-final last Thursday, the Italian tactician opts for Thibaut Courtois in goal, Antonio Rüdiger and Aurélien Tchouaméni in central defence, while Ferland Mendy and Lucas Vázquez take up the full-back positions. In midfield, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde, and Jude Bellingham will be tasked with dictating play and maintaining balance in the team.
Finally, in attack, the magical trio of Rodrygo Goes, Vinícius Júnior, and Kylian Mbappé will start. Having been caught out by Barça’s defence in their last league encounter, Madrid’s attacking line will be aiming to turn the tide. With Mbappé’s pace, Vinícius’s dribbling skills, and Goes’s mobility, Real Madrid are looking to make an impact and continue their good form. We’ll know more after the whistle blows, with Gil Manzano officiating the match.
