On the show Clique on Canal+, Kylian Mbappé provided detailed insights into the Sweden scandal, which involves allegations of abuse against a woman. The Real Madrid forward made significant revelations this Sunday.
The Sweden scandal attracted significant media attention last October. Absent during the penultimate FIFA international break of the year, when the French team was competing in the third and fourth rounds of the Nations League, Kylian Mbappé had taken five days off to relax while recovering from an injury. Following the advice of his former Paris teammate Nordi Mukiele, the Real Madrid number 9 chose to rest in Sweden but unexpectedly found himself implicated in a case involving an unknown young woman.
Mbappé opens up about the Sweden scandal

Silent on the matter, which has stirred much controversy and is currently under legal investigation, Kylian Mbappé had initially responded through his lawyer. A few weeks after the uproar, the Bondy-born player finally spoke out. As announced since Thursday, KM9 addressed all the issues surrounding him during the Clique show on Canal+. Speaking candidly, Mbappé shared revealing details about his trip to Sweden. From the outset, the forward, appearing very relaxed, clarified the situation.
“The Sweden affair? I was surprised, and I still am, to be honest. These are things that suddenly appear in your life, things you don’t see coming. I haven’t received anything—no summons, nothing. The Swedish government hasn’t said a word,” the Madrid player explained. “I just read about it in the press like everyone else. I’m not involved. It’s confusing, but it hasn’t weighed on me because I’ve never felt implicated. It made a lot of noise, but my focus remained the same—moving to Madrid, concentrating on my career, and waiting to see how it all ends.”
Providing further details, the former Monaco player explained that his initial aim was to relax in another country. However, after being warned about potential exposure, he decided to travel to Sweden, where things appeared to be quieter.
“I saw the news like everyone else”

Despite taking precautions to ensure everything remained low-key, Kylian Mbappé admitted to being caught off guard by images from the last day, showing him leaving a restaurant with his entourage.
“If the justice system summons me, I will naturally respond. It wasn’t a party. The coach gave us five days off, and I went to this city. Initially, I planned to go elsewhere, but I chose this place because the coach told me it was a less exposed city. I’m Kylian, so I think I’m always exposed, but I went ahead. Everything went well; I was at peace. Before leaving, there was this photo of me leaving the restaurant… There were plenty of people ready to greet me at the hotel entrance before my departure, many journalists. Then, when I was on the plane, I saw the news. I have no idea who (the complainant) is. Now, justice must take its course,” the former Parisian explained.
When asked about the case being in the hands of Swedish justice, Kylian Mbappé said he is prepared to respond if the Stockholm police summon him. For now, the 25-year-old forward insists everything was done properly during his trip to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s homeland.
“People say I’m depressed and finished? I don’t pay much attention to it. It’s my family who hears it, and it’s sad to see them affected by such things. Sure, I’ve had challenges—fatigue, problems—but I’m not depressed, and people shouldn’t say that because many genuinely suffer from depression.” The message is clear.
