Real Madrid’s decision to recruit Kylian Mbappé is proving spot-on once again. After several successful years in France, particularly with AS Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain, the 26-year-old French striker has been delighting Madrid fans since last summer. Arriving in the Spanish capital on a free transfer, the player from Bondy initially experienced a mixed start, with his performances facing criticism, despite his ability to find the back of the net. However, since the beginning of November, the French star has fully settled into his new environment and has been delivering consistently world-class performances.
Mbappé and the 30-Goal milestone
In Real Madrid’s last five matches, the Bondy-born forward has scored eight goals, including his first hat-trick in a Madrid shirt, which came last Saturday against Real Valladolid. On fire, Kylian Mbappé seems poised to have a record-breaking debut season at Real Madrid. According to Marca, he is well on track to comfortably reach, or even surpass, the 30-goal mark this season. This comes as no surprise given that he has already scored 22 goals in 32 matches across all competitions in a Real Madrid jersey.
Upon his arrival in Madrid, Mbappé set himself a target of scoring 40 goals in his debut season, aiming to help the team go far in every competition. Currently second to Robert Lewandowski in the race for La Liga’s top scorer (just two goals behind), KM9 is unlikely to struggle in reaching his personal target given his current form. Marca even notes that KM9 has made a stronger start at Real Madrid than the five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.

A self-proclaimed fan of the Portuguese forward, who dominated the football world after joining Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappé is on track to outperform his idol. In his debut season for Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo scored 33 goals in 35 matches. With countless matches still to be played before the season ends, the captain of the French national team is almost certain to surpass CR7’s tally.
Following Mbappé’s first hat-trick in Real Madrid colours, Cristiano Ronaldo—currently the captain of Al Nassr—expressed his happiness for Mbappé. Under a post from Real Madrid’s new number 9, Ronaldo shared his joy in seeing Mbappé shine in Spain and predicted more brilliant achievements to come. It’s clear that Kylian Mbappé is a phenomenal player who continues to win over sceptics regarding his talent. At 26, he exudes much more maturity in his public statements and decisions.
At this rate, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him claim the titles still missing from his trophy cabinet. The ultimate prize, of course, is the Ballon d’Or—a key mission for the French striker upon joining Real Madrid. Time will tell whether he achieves it this year.
