The most prominent club in the Spanish capital has been making headlines for weeks. Not exactly dominant since the start of the season, Real Madrid has attracted a lot of attention with its mixed performances. Defensively fragile this year, Carlo Ancelotti’s squad has been significantly weakened in recent days by serious injuries to Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao (both suffering from torn knee ligaments). To replace them, Florentino Pérez and his associates have been offered Sergio Ramos.

A former key player for Real Madrid (2005-2021, 671 matches with 101 goals), the veteran 38-year-old defender hasn’t hung up his boots just yet. Already endorsed by several Madrid fans, including club legend Guti, Sergio Ramos has decided to take the bull by the horns and push forward with the matter, especially as he is not asking for much to come and help Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for the next six months.
Florentino Pérez’s uncompromising response
While Ramos’ gesture is commendable, the result was anything but ambiguous. According to El Chiringuito TV once again, Real Madrid’s president, through his right-hand man, José Ángel Sánchez, a key decision-maker behind the scenes at the club, rejected the 38-year-old defender’s proposal. Despite the tempting offer on paper, Real Madrid’s management is not interested in the return of their former defensive stalwart. Focused on the future, they are firmly against offering one last hurrah to a player whose time has passed.
It must be said, the response from Madrid’s hierarchy is a serious blow for Sergio Ramos, who, in recent days, has been sharing videos of his individual training sessions to stay fit. Undoubtedly convinced that he would be the right man for the job at Real, the former Parisian will now have to turn the page. As Nacho Fernandez has pointed out, the time has come for young players from the reserves to step up for the Madrid team.
