Several weeks after being accused of sexual abuse against a young woman in Sweden, followed by harassment allegations, Kylian Mbappé has received a verdict. This Thursday, Swedish justice published a statement fully exonerating the Real Madrid forward.
Last Sunday, Kylian Mbappé revisited the case that made headlines in October. Released by Real Madrid for five days of rest during the penultimate FIFA international break of the year, when he was not with the French national team due to a minor injury, the 25-year-old striker travelled to Sweden for a brief relaxation. Accompanied by his former PSG teammate Nordi Mukiele, KM9 enjoyed precious moments that were ultimately overshadowed by accusations of violence, abuse, and sexual harassment.
Following a complaint from the victim, who remained anonymous, Mbappé was pursued by Swedish authorities. The striker, through his lawyer, promptly denied the allegations and claimed innocence. His legal representative reacted swiftly to the case, which attracted significant media attention. Although Mbappé was not explicitly named by Swedish justice at the time of announcing their investigation, he expressed confidence in his innocence and awaited the final verdict. This Thursday, it was finally delivered—decisively.
Mbappé declared not guilty

Indeed, in a public statement released on Thursday, the prosecutor handling the case announced that the investigation into allegations of rape in Stockholm against the Bondy-born player had been dropped. After weeks of inquiries, Swedish justice officially cleared KM9, citing insufficient evidence against him. “During the investigation, an individual was reasonably suspected of rape and two cases of sexual harassment were identified,” the prosecutor initially stated.
She concluded: “However, I find that the evidence is insufficient to continue the proceedings, and the investigation is therefore closed. The individual in question is no longer suspected of any crime,” Marina Chirakova declared. This is a major relief for Kylian Mbappé, who had always maintained his innocence and insisted he had nothing to hide. While the case may have mentally unsettled the Real Madrid star, this positive outcome will likely bring him much-needed peace of mind.
The failed attempt at destabilisation

According to sources close to Mbappé’s camp, this case, revealed by the Swedish media outlets Aftonbladet and Expressen (which obtained information about the footballer’s stay, despite him taking all precautions to ensure complete discretion), was not clear at all. Suspecting an attempt to destabilise the French forward, who is embroiled in a major conflict with PSG over a bonus and unpaid salary amounting to €55 million, the Real Madrid player’s camp remained calm and composed.
Fortunately, the DNA reports and investigations revealed nothing incriminating against the French football star, who will celebrate his 26th birthday in a few days. Today, the priority is to turn the page and shine on the pitch to honour the colours of Real Madrid. We can therefore say: a sigh of relief.
