The Real Madrid coach is in a very difficult situation. Under contract until June 2026, Carlo Ancelotti is now seen, both externally and internally, as the number one person responsible for the team’s struggles. In recent days, the players’ behaviour clearly signals their stance.
Returning to Real Madrid in 2021, Carlo Ancelotti no longer enjoys unanimous support. Considered one of the greatest coaches in the club’s history due to his achievements with the team in recent years, the Italian coach seems to have reached the end of his Madrid adventure. Despite his extension until June 2026, agreed a few months ago, the 65-year-old manager risks leaving sooner than expected due to the team’s poor performances. While Florentino Pérez and his associates are poised to take strong action if further setbacks occur in the coming weeks, the dressing room appears to be turning against him.
The players have had enough

Despite the immense talent in the squad, Carlo Ancelotti is struggling to motivate the players. While Kylian Mbappé’s arrival has been blamed for disrupting many things within the Real Madrid team, the Italian coach is also under fire for his tactical choices. Speaking of tactics, the former Bayern Munich coach has now alienated several players. Indeed, according to recent news from the Spanish capital, players like Arda Guler, Endrick, Dani Ceballos, Camavinga, and Rodrygo Goes – who play very little – are deeply frustrated with their coach.
This frustration is particularly acute among younger players like Guler and Endrick, a situation that concerns the club’s management. Meanwhile, senior players are now open to the idea of leaving the Bernabéu in the coming months. Beyond the frustration of those who aren’t playing, Jude Bellingham is also reportedly angry due to the thankless work he has to perform on the pitch.
Adding to these tensions is the case of veteran Valverde, whose entourage has strongly criticised the treatment by the coaching staff. After Real Madrid’s loss to AC Milan, Ancelotti claimed the Uruguayan midfielder was substituted at halftime due to back pain, yet the player’s representatives dispute this version of events, casting doubt on the coach’s explanation.
The message is clear: change is needed

With these numerous issues at Real Madrid, it’s evident the players would not oppose a change. Currently disjointed on the pitch, as Luka Modric recently noted, the players seem unable to recapture harmony under Carlo Ancelotti’s leadership. It is therefore clear that Florentino Pérez needs to consider a successor swiftly; at the current rate, Real Madrid risks finishing the season without silverware, despite having all the resources to compete in every tournament.
Before the Champions League match against Liverpool, we’ll get a clearer idea of what to expect from the Madrid team, which will face two relatively manageable games in La Liga (Osasuna and Leganés).
