Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti held the traditional pre-match press conference this Saturday. The day before the clash against Getafe, the Italian opened up about the team’s difficulties, particularly Kylian Mbappé.
Three days after the defeat to Liverpool, Carlo Ancelotti faced the press. Now focused on the 15th matchday of La Liga against Getafe this Sunday at the Santiago Bernabéu, the Madrid team will try to get back to winning ways. Still without Vinícius Júnior, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Eduardo Camavinga, and David Alaba, who will return in the coming weeks, the coaching staff will try to field a solid team with the available players. Ahead of this match, there’s talk of a possible start for Endrick up front alongside Kylian Mbappé, who is not in the best form.
Ancelotti’s honest words

Speaking of good periods, Carlo Ancelotti, who had been under pressure, received support from the club’s management, as reported by Real France on Saturday. After a conversation with Florentino Pérez, the 65-year-old coach arrived for the pre-match press conference against Getafe. Very relaxed, the former Bayern Munich coach quickly calmed the reporters who were eager to understand what’s wrong with the team.
At the beginning of the discussion, Carlo Ancelotti was very clear: “It’s impossible to think about a perfect season like last year… every year we have to solve problems… But it’s better that they happen now than in May… because now you can solve them, and we will,” he said in comments collected by Marca before discussing the inconsistency and Kylian Mbappé’s inability to meet expectations.
Ancelotti defends Kylian Mbappé

According to Don Carlo, it is unfair to blame the French forward, who is suffering from the team’s general shortcomings. “Mbappé’s problem is the same as ours… We haven’t had continuity, nor have we shown our best version. But this isn’t a problem that’s specific to him.” While some insist on the need for reinforcements, Ancelotti calls for patience.
“It’s a waste of time to think about signing players now. We have 40 days to think about it, and that’s what we’ll do. Things are moving and things can change. For example, Alaba is doing very well and will be back soon. We have to evaluate all of this first,” said the Italian coach, who is very pleased with Raúl Asensio, whom he has clearly identified as one of the key players for the rest of the season. “Asensio has done very well. When the injured players return, he will have earned the right to compete with them for a spot.”
The message has been delivered. We’ll find out on Sunday if Real Madrid presents a different (and more convincing) face against Getafe, currently 15th in the standings. A win would keep the Madrid side in touch with FC Barcelona, who are currently top of La Liga.
