Real Madrid face a tricky trip to Girona this Saturday evening (9pm), hoping to bounce back from a tricky week that included a frustrating defeat to Athletic Bilbao. Deprived of several key players, Carlo Ancelotti is still counting on Kylian Mbappé to carry the Casa Blanca forward.
After the disappointment at San Mamés on Wednesday, when Kylian Mbappé missed a crucial penalty, Real Madrid are under pressure. While Madrid remain close to leaders Barcelona, their recent performances are raising questions. This Saturday’s trip to Girona is a real test for a Casa Blanca in search of some serenity.

Without Vinícius Jr and Rodrygo, who are both injured, the team’s attacking line now rests on the much-anticipated Mbappé. After finding the net again against Getafe, the Frenchman must show that he can be his team’s attacking leader, even when the going gets tough.
The official line-up: a balanced 4-4-2
Carlo Ancelotti has opted for a 4-4-2 formation. The absence of natural wingers has led Ancelotti to put together a tandem that has already proved its worth in recent weeks. Brahim Díaz, who has put in some interesting performances of late, will have the opportunity to prove that he can be decisive alongside Mbappé. The duo will have to contend with a Girona defence renowned for its organisation and discipline.
Against Girona, currently 8th in La Liga, Real Madrid will have no room for error. While three points are imperative if they are to stay in the title race, this match is also a test for Carlo Ancelotti, three days ahead of his side’s trip to Atalanta in the Champions League. The pressure is on Kylian Mbappé and his team-mates.
