Touted as one of football’s great hopefuls, Arda Güler is struggling to establish himself as a regular starter at Real Madrid. Ahead of the Intercontinental Cup final against Pachuca, one voice has been raised against the gifted Turk.
Having opted for Real Madrid despite being rumoured for Barcelona, Arda Güler has made a choice of the heart. The young Turkish attacking midfielder saw his first season disrupted by injury. But at the end of the campaign, he showed what he was capable of with some dazzling performances. In fact, he scored several goals towards the end of the season.
Called up with Turkey for Euro 2024, Arda Güler pulled out all the stops and made his mark at the European Championship. But since the start of the season, the former Fenerbahçe star has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter under Carlo Ancelotti. The few games he has played have shown some signs of success, but observers have clearly been left wanting, as Arda Güler is normally compared to Lamine Yamal, who calls himself the Turkish Lionel Messi.
The first criticisms fall on Arda Güler
After the match against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday evening, in which Arda Güler again started for the first team, the young Turkish phenomenon did not really shine.
