Before the challenging trip to Anfield to face Liverpool in the Champions League, Real Madrid will take on Leganés this Sunday in the 14th round of La Liga. Just minutes before kick-off, Carlo Ancelotti has revealed his starting XI.
Following their emphatic victory in the 13th round (4-0) before the international break, Carlo Ancelotti’s team will look to build on their momentum against the 14th-placed team in the league. For this crucial match, Real Madrid will play in a 4-4-2 formation with several surprises. Due to numerous injuries in the squad, the coaching staff has decided to trust Raúl Asensio in central defence alongside Rüdiger. While Fran García takes charge of the left-back position, Federico Valverde will be deployed as the right-back.
In midfield, there are two major surprises. Indeed, against all expectations, Ancelotti has opted to start Arda Güler and Dani Ceballos just ahead of Eduardo Camavinga. In the number 10 role, Jude Bellingham will aim to provide greater attacking presence, with Vinícius Júnior and Kylian Mbappé leading the line. A strong performance is needed to secure a good result and temporarily close the gap to four points behind Barça (with one game in hand).
Here is Real Madrid’s full starting eleven:
Courtois – Rudiger, Asensio, Garcia, Valverde – Camavinga, Ceballos, Guler, Bellingham – Vincius, Mbappé.
