In a pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Israel this Thursday, Didier Deschamps, the head coach of the French team, delivered a strong response regarding Kylian Mbappé.
It’s no longer a secret: Kylian Mbappé will not play for France again this year. Already absent during the October international break, the 25-year-old forward has been left out by the coach for the final international window of the year. To justify this unexpected absence, Didier Deschamps explained that he felt it was best to rest the Real Madrid player, who is currently going through a tough period.
“Leave him alone”

While Deschamps clarified that it was a personal decision and unrelated to the off-field issues surrounding the player, a close associate of Mbappé questioned the coach’s comments in L’Équipe newspaper. As speculation has mounted since this statement, Didier Deschamps faced the press on Wednesday to discuss the upcoming match against the Israelis. Naturally, when asked about Kylian Mbappé, the French coach did not hide his irritation.
Clearly tired of having to justify the absence of the Madrid forward, the coach put his foot down. “I told you what I told you; you’re free to interpret. There are 23 players here, Kylian is not here, leave him alone,” said a visibly frustrated Deschamps to the RMC Sport microphones. The message was clear: it’s no use trying to extract any more from the head of the French team.
