Retired since last June, Toni Kroos made a new media appearance this Friday to talk about his beloved club: Real Madrid. In his brother Félix Kroos’s podcast, the former Madrid number 8 opens the door to a future return.
To everyone’s surprise, Toni Kroos announced his retirement a few months ago. While it was expected that Luka Modric (aged 39) would leave, the German midfielder chose to depart to allow the Croatian veteran to continue his adventure at Real Madrid. At only 34 years old, the German international left the Madrid team in a complex situation since his departure, which has caused some discontent.
Kroos’s strong words about Real

Although he recently dismissed the idea of coming out of retirement to help the struggling team this season, Toni Kroos has softened his stance. Rather focused on his current projects, primarily the success of his academy in Spain, the former Bayern Munich player says he is ready to work for Real Madrid. In a new appearance on the Einfach mal Luppen podcast, hosted with his brother Félix, the 2014 World Cup champion explains why he can never turn his back on Florentino Pérez’s club.
“The significance of Real will always be the same for me. It was a very long, very great, fruitful, and loving period with Real Madrid. It will always be so, I will always be close to Real, there is no doubt about that. And I will always defend Real, I will always be on their side. That will not change, the relationship is simply too close,” said Toni Kroos.
The former number 8’s offer to the Madrid team

While the Madrid team would have liked him to stay a bit longer on the green pitch as a player, the former midfielder, who also rejects the idea of becoming a coach, explains the roles he could fulfil for Real Madrid. “I am now fully occupied with my projects, but given the proximity to Madrid, my relationship with Madrid, I would never rule out doing something at the club at some point in the future,” he added.
Like Roberto Carlos and Raúl, Kroos will undoubtedly be seen in ambassadorial roles for the Madrid team in the coming years. Much more focused on his own initiatives currently to keep busy, we will still have to wait to see this possibility materialise.
