Carlo Ancelotti spoke to the international press on Tuesday in Qatar to discuss the upcoming final of the Club World Cup against Pachuca FC. Regarding his team, the Real Madrid coach shared his thoughts on Kylian Mbappé.
The grand press room at the Lusail Stadium in Doha, Qatar, which hosted the 2022 World Cup final, welcomed Carlo Ancelotti and journalists from all over the world on Tuesday, ahead of the Club World Cup final. On the eve of the match between Real Madrid and Pachuca FC (which will be broadcast exclusively here), the Madrid coach answered questions from the press.
Carlo Ancelotti’s press conference

After the UEFA Super Cup win against Atalanta last August, the 65-year-old coach is aiming to claim another title. With one match away from achieving this, which would make him the most decorated coach in Real Madrid’s history, surpassing Miguel Muñoz, Carlo Ancelotti didn’t hide his excitement.
“This is something important for me too, to achieve such success with this club. I believe I’ve done a good job and I want to continue succeeding. Obviously, it’s an honour to be compared to such great coaches,” he initially said, according to comments collected by our colleagues at Marca. For Ancelotti, it is crucial not to underestimate the Mexican opponents, who are currently struggling in the league (16th out of 18, with 13 points in 17 matches).
“We are very excited to be here because clearly, we’ve done things well. It’s a gift, just like it is for Pachuca. This gives us a lot of enthusiasm, and we will try to win it, taking into account the challenges. The emotion of the moment is being here,” said Carlo Ancelotti before adding, “Every match is tricky. If Pachuca has made it this far, they have something. We must respect them for what they are and for the quality they possess. A final is always a special emotion and a concern before the match. We need to prepare the team well.“
Mbappé at his best according to Ancelotti

After discussing the situation of his team, which he believes is better than it was a month ago, Carlo Ancelotti didn’t avoid the question about Kylian Mbappé. Although a lot is expected from the French forward, who hasn’t yet dazzled in a game that could be considered a reference match, the Italian coach stated that the player is now at his best level. “I think Mbappé has reached his good level in the last 2-3 matches. We’re really happy to have him here. He can play anywhere up front, wherever I place him.“
The message is clear. Back in the team after his thigh injury last week against Atalanta Bergamasca in the Champions League, the French striker hopes to keep his starting spot for the match against Pachuca. As revealed by Marca, KM9 told the medical staff that he is 100% ready for this final at the Lusail Stadium, which he knows very well (having scored a hat-trick against Argentina in the 2022 World Cup final).
