While Real Madrid has had Kylian Mbappé, one of the most famous strikers in the world, in its ranks since last summer, Jordi Lardín, a renowned former Espanyol Barcelona forward, has named another Madrid player as the most complete striker in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.

Currently leading La Liga, Real Madrid can thank several of its players, particularly Kylian Mbappé. Having arrived in the Spanish capital last July, the French forward, who received a grand welcome at the Santiago Bernabéu, is enjoying a brilliant first season, scoring 15 goals in 22 league matches so far. Wearing the number 9 shirt for Ancelotti’s team, KM9 carries a great deal of responsibility. On Monday, Cristiano Ronaldo even urged Madrid fans to take good care of their star signing, as he will bring them plenty of joy.

Jordi Lardín prefers Rodrygo Goes even more

It's not Kylian Mbappé: the most complete Real Madrid forward is revealed

Ahead of the controversial Matchday 22 fixture against Espanyol Barcelona last Saturday, Spanish football legend Jordi Lardín shared his thoughts on Real Madrid’s attacking line, which has struggled to shine. He clearly stated that the combination of Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior, and Rodrygo Goes is not ideal due to all three players preferring to play on the left flank. The Espanyol Barcelona legend (1993-1997, 163 matches, 47 goals) then highlighted the unique strengths of each of the three Madrid forwards.

Speaking to AS, Lardín explained that when it comes to a complete striker, Rodrygo stands above the other attacking players. “It is impossible to choose my favourite forward among these three. Impossible to choose. The most complete is Rodrygo, the most decisive is Mbappé, and the most spectacular is Vinícius. Mbappé, because he is sensational right now, but football is about moments. A few months ago, some wanted to write him off, and today, he is dazzling,” said the former Spanish international.

In any case, coming from a former striker, this is an interesting perspective. In recent weeks, Rodrygo has clearly stepped up his game. Deployed on the left wing in Vinícius’ absence, he has showcased impressive performances, scoring multiple goals. During Real Madrid’s defeat to Espanyol, the 24-year-old forward was the most dynamic player in attack, thanks to his technical ability, speed of execution, and finishing precision. It’s no surprise that Manchester City and several other top clubs are desperate to sign the former Santos player.
