A few days before the start of 2025, Manolo Romero, former scout for Real Madrid, shared a revelation about Vinicius Junior. According to the ex-Merengue scout, Florentino Pérez would not hesitate for a second to let go of the Brazilian winger.
The year 2024 is ending well for Real Madrid. With a total of five trophies won during the year and several major individual titles for the players, the Madrid side are preparing to start the new year with plenty of confidence. While Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham, and Vinicius Junior will resume training this Monday, ahead of the match against FC Valencia next Friday, Manolo Romero, former scout for the club, made a major revelation about Florentino Pérez.
Mbappé, Pérez’s untouchable favourite

In an interview with Diario Sport, Manolo Romero wasted no time in stating that the president of Real Madrid is far more excited about Kylian Mbappé than Vinicius Junior. According to the former scout, who worked for the Merengues for 20 years in Catalonia, Saudi clubs hoping to recruit the Brazilian forward have a chance of succeeding if the amount on the table is high. Analyzing Real Madrid’s new sporting strategy, the Spaniard was clear: Pérez will sell Vini as soon as an offer of 300 million euros or more comes in.
“If the Saudi clubs come with more than 300 million euros on the table, I’m convinced Florentino will sell Vinicius, he’ll even take him to the airport,” Romero said before adding that the 26-year-old French forward, who recently joined the Madrid capital, remains the president’s favourite player. “300 million is a lot of money. I think Florentino’s favourite will be Mbappé.”
Vinicius Junior isn’t ready to leave

Pursued for a few months by Saudi investment funds, Vinicius Junior has seen an enormous offer of around 1 billion euros on the table. But at 24, the Brazilian star remains a key player in Real Madrid’s project. Although the former scout believes Florentino Pérez would part with the Brazilian international if a large enough offer arrives, that offer has yet to materialise. While he doesn’t completely rule out the Saudi offer, the player wants to continue with the greatest club in the world to hopefully win the Ballon d’Or, which he narrowly missed out on on October 28th.
For now, the good atmosphere between Carlo Ancelotti’s players suggests there is no risk of an unexpected departure in the coming months. Moreover, after the Globe Soccer Awards ceremony, which again crowned Vini as the best player of the year for 2024, Marca reports that Florentino Pérez will discuss a contract extension and salary increase for the former Flamengo player.
