Real Madrid secure 2-1 win over Rayo Vallecano in La Liga Matchday 27 clash. In a largely controlled match at the Santiago Bernabéu, Carlo Ancelotti’s men displayed various performances. Here are the Merengues’ player ratings after the game.
Highly anticipated at home this Sunday, Real Madrid did the job. Following Barcelona’s postponed match due to a tragic event and Atlético Madrid’s defeat at Getafe, Ancelotti and his men needed a win to stay in a strong position in the title race. After a well-controlled start, Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior struck in quick succession in the 30th and 34th minutes to put Madrid two goals ahead. Just before half-time, Vallecano pulled one back with a stunning strike from Pedro Díaz.
The second half saw a more balanced contest. Despite a few chances on both sides, the score remained unchanged, securing Real Madrid’s victory and pushing them back to second place with 57 points.
Real Madrid player ratings

Andriy Lunin – 6/10
The Ukrainian goalkeeper had a solid match. Replacing Courtois, who was rested at the last minute due to a foot issue, Lunin made some crucial saves. Beaten by Rayo Vallecano’s goal just before half-time, the 26-year-old remained composed and continued his game with confidence.
Fran García – 6/10

A good performance from the Spanish left-back. Against his former club, Fran García covered a lot of ground on his flank. His presence was valuable both offensively and defensively.
David Alaba – 7/10
Much was expected from him on Sunday. After his heavily criticised performance against Betis last weekend, Alaba bounced back well. Filling in for Rüdiger, who was sidelined with flu, the Austrian defender shone in front of goal with several crucial blocks. Playing alongside a quicker and in-form teammate, Alaba ran less and focused on neutralising dangerous balls.
Raúl Asensio – 7/10

No surprises, Raúl Asensio once again delivered. Fast, physical, and present in key moments, the 22-year-old Spanish defender was solid at the back. A good performance.
Lucas Vázquez – 6/10
Nothing major to criticise, but nothing extraordinary either from the Spanish right-back. Facing a Rayo side that lacked offensive threat, Vázquez did the basics well.
Aurélien Tchouaméni – 7/10
Another dominant display from the Frenchman. Back in his preferred No. 6 role, Tchouaméni bossed the midfield. Brimming with confidence, he showed great authority in his play. A reassuring performance ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Atlético Madrid.
Luka Modrić – 6/10
The Croatian veteran did not disappoint. As captain for the day, Modrić once again led by example with his tireless running. In the first half, he covered a lot of ground and influenced the game. A solid outing for the international midfielder.
Jude Bellingham – 7/10
Back in the starting XI after serving a two-match suspension in La Liga, Bellingham showed his usual fighting spirit. Key in both recovering and building play, the English international delivered an excellent performance.
Rodrygo Goes – 5/10
Rodrygo was far less visible than in recent matches. Not always in the best positions, the 24-year-old forward focused on supporting his teammates in build-up play. As usual, his movement and positional shifts caused problems for Rayo Vallecano’s defenders.
Vinícius Júnior – 7/10
An excellent display from the Brazilian winger. Full of intent from the start, Vini tormented Rayo’s defence with his pace and dribbling. He netted a fine goal in the 34th minute and continued to be a threat in the second half, despite not scoring again.
Kylian Mbappé – 6/10

The French striker found his form again. After two disappointing performances, Mbappé got back on the scoresheet early in the game, boosting his confidence. He was lively from the outset. However, after Rayo’s goal before half-time, the game became more balanced, and he was less involved in the second half, leading to his substitution in the 79th minute.
