Back in Real Madrid’s starting eleven against Manchester City this Tuesday, Ferland Mendy made his mark after ten minutes of play. During a strong phase for the Madrid side, the French left-back had a great chance but was unable to finish. After an initial crucial intervention from Ederson to deny Vinicius Junior, Mendy inherited the ball. Perhaps not used to finding himself in such a position, the Merengue defender lacked spontaneity and sent the ball straight at Nathan Aké, who blocked the shot.
On social media, the missed opportunity has sparked a huge outcry, especially as the Citizens have been leading since the 19th minute thanks to Erling Haaland.
