The man who still wore the Madrid shirt last season was particularly impressed by Kylian Mbappé’s spectacular goal, a cannon shot that sent the Santiago Bernabéu into raptures.
Kylian Mbappé’s goal was one of the highlights of the evening. Joselu’s critical view of Valverde
While Joselu was effusive in his praise of Mbappé, he was equally critical of Fede Valverde’s second goal of the evening. The Uruguayan, true to his explosive style, unleashed a blistering shot from the edge of the area after a corner. Joselu, while acknowledging the quality of the shot, nevertheless pointed to a certain lack of vigilance on the part of the Sevilla defence.
“It’s an incredible shot, but the defence should have done a better job of blocking Valverde. Leaving him that space is a mistake we can’t afford to make at this level,” he added. For Joselu, commentating on a match at Real Madrid, his former club, is bound to be a special moment. Having played under Carlo Ancelotti last season, he made no secret of his emotions on several occasions. Seeing his former team-mates shine clearly awakened a mixture of pride and nostalgia in him.
