While Real Madrid is looking for a quick solution to compensate for the long absence of Eder Militao, Aymeric Laporte is reported to be closer than ever to signing. Despite making sacrifices to leave Al Nassr, the transfer risks falling through because of Vinicius Junior.
Negotiations continue at Real Madrid to address the injury crises affecting the team, particularly in defence. While speculations are rife with players being linked with January moves, Aymeric Laporte’s name has emerged. In recent hours, the former Manchester City player, who joined Al Nassr to further boost his wealth, has been named as a priority target for Real Madrid.
Aymeric Laporte caught up by a tackle on Vini?

Although Florentino Pérez has received positive signals on this deal, as the player is willing to lower his salary to around 4 or 3 million euros annually instead of the 15 million he currently earns in Saudi Arabia, the transfer is not to everyone’s liking in Madrid. Indeed, since last March, when the Spanish defender had an altercation with Vinicius Junior, whom he even mocked after the Brazil-Spain friendly at the Santiago Bernabéu (3-3), several Madrid fans have rejected the move, which seemed to be progressing.
On social media, the majority of comments are clear: “We don’t want the player who mocked Vinicius Junior.” After the heated match between La Roja and Seleção, marked by major altercations between Vini and the Spanish bench, Aymeric Laporte took to social media to mock the Madrid winger. “Maybe he wanted to dance,” he sarcastically commented on X in response to a post showing a video of the altercation in which Vini had elbowed him in the back before a corner.
The sarcastic message that doesn’t sit well
For the record, Vinicius Junior, who had been subjected to racist abuse, tearfully said, “I just want to play football” in a press conference before the electric match. Even though Aymeric Laporte’s response was not mean-spirited, many Madrid fans prefer another defender. The question now is whether Florentino Pérez will take these details into account. At present, Real Madrid is not ruling out the idea of relying on their reserve team players and signing other players next June.

Especially since Al Nassr is demanding between 10 and 12 million euros for their defender, Laporte’s efforts may be in vain, as Pérez does not want to spend a fortune on a defender. At 30 years old, the Spanish international remains in good form and plays regularly. However, the club’s management, while not completely dismissing this option, is looking for younger profiles, which explains the refusal to sign a player like Sergio Ramos for free.
